What we do

Wilhelms Consulting Group is a multi-disciplinary group that helps organizations discover and develop their place in the emerging economy of business, culture, faith and meaning. We work with organizations on many levels and in a variety of ways.

“The Gathering”

A multi-sector, multi-discipline, multi-faith gathering of thought leaders and action leaders working in the systems shift to economic, social, and environmental sustainability.  The goal of the gathering is to give us pictures of the whole and bring to surface new visions for a regenerative economy.  We will be generating definitions of economy and wealth that are consistent with the values and sacred narratives from our major faith/wisdom traditions.

Participants
We envision this to be a multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholders event with participants that include economists, ecologists, business leaders (of publicly and privately held companies), social entrepreneurs, lawyers writing the legal frameworks for B-Corps, government leaders community development folks, artists, and more.

Purpose
We plan to bring thought leaders and action leaders coming together so we can integrate sacred narratives and overarching frameworks with accounts of the amazing work already in motion around the world that supports justice, environmental sustainability, and commitment to the common good. We hope to explore some of the deeper questions generated by a commitment to an abundant regenerative economy (for example: How do we define the good life, a life well lived?  How do we define wealth and 'advancement' in development?

Presupposition
An essential element in making a shift to regenerative economy is to reflect critically on many factors, including religious, which influence how people define a good life. Consumers, investors, and voters have significant power over the economic system in a liberal democracy, and it is crucial to educate them and shape their sensibilities. Significant force in this regard are faith traditions which shape worldviews and provide frameworks for the core values people live out in their everyday behaviors. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism represent about 80% of our country, and are each, in their own way, committed to justice, sustainability, and the common good. The values at the core of these religious traditions are at adds with unsustainable practices in our current economies and consumer cultures.

Approach
We plan to generated a conversation to encourage hope, to talk about the amazing things happening in distinct silos in this movement and to explore how we can leverage the resources, energy, sense of purpose, and contribute to creating a tipping point.
